LinksThe Scottish Dean's Medical Curriculum Group has agreed that all medical students taking up Scottish Foundation posts (FY1)in August 2005 will undertake a common shadowing week (Tuesday 28th June to Monday 4th July 2005). This is to help in preparing for their first employment as a doctor. As part of this preparation students will be required to complete the 4 page proforma entitled "FOUNDATION TRAINING: SHADOWING WEEK", and to reflect on their learning needs and how these are to be taken forward. It has been agreed with Dr Moya Kelly that this proforma will be placed at the start of the Foundation Portfolio, with a copy returned to the student's home medical school. The individual medical schools will be responsible for providing each student with a blank proforma. PRHO Outcomes Project reportAt the same time as the undergraduate Learning Outcomes were being developed, a group, based in the Educational Development Unit at Taypark House, Dundee, was set up to undertake a similar exercise for the Pre Registration House Officer year. This web site provides access to the results of that project which is based on the same 12 learning outcome domains as the Scottish Doctor undergraduate project. Appropriate Antimicrobial Prescribing for Tomorrows DoctorsThe aim of the project is collaboration between the Scottish Medical Schools to develop interactive learning resources to promote prudent antibiotic prescribing and reflective practice. It will be based on the conclusions of the working group on undergraduate medical education of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) and will use the outcome based education model defined by the Scottish Deans Medical Curriculum Group.
